This should not work but it does, most would consider the power lines a distraction but they are an integral part of this image. They dissect the field of view and break up the chimney behind, this adds a whole new element to what would be a basic image.
The clarity of the background also helps this, if there were clouds in the sky this would not work, the clear skies gives the lines more definition and does not allow any distraction.
I would love to see this as a selective colour image just retaining the red on the chimney and bleaching the colour from the rest of the image but that's just me, someone who fiddles too much at times.
I like this, my way of judging an image is if I would have it on a wall, I would have this
nice how you found the angular similarity at the top of the stack and the power line. also like the story/relation between the stack (the work that creates the product)and lines (delivery of product). Unlike most...I like distraction..and rarely do I pay too much attention to how my eye moves. Impact and overall (holistic)feel is what I look for. That's why I also do not critique...novice I suppose.
Industrial and urbanically cold with a dash of musical lines to temper. Sorry, can't get away from the music thing.
